Standards & Compliance

How Solar Stack aligns with international and regional PV installation standards

International Standards

Solar Stack implements the core physics and safety checks from international PV standards used worldwide.

IEC 62548 — PV Array Design Requirements

Defines temperature correction factors, production tolerances, and worst-case voltage/current calculations. Solar Stack applies these via temperature-corrected Voc, Vmpp, and Isc checks.

IEC 61730 — PV Module Safety

Defines maximum system voltage ratings (1000V / 1500V insulation classes). Solar Stack checks string voltage against the module's rated system voltage.

IEC 61215 — PV Module Design Qualification

Source of NOCT testing methodology. Solar Stack uses NOCT values to calculate realistic cell temperatures under operating conditions.

EN 50530 — Inverter Efficiency Testing

Defines MPPT tracking efficiency standards. Solar Stack verifies that string voltage stays within the inverter's MPPT tracking range.

German Standards (VDE)

For installations in Germany, national VDE standards apply in addition to international IEC norms.

VDE 0100-712

Installation of low-voltage systems: Solar PV supply systems

Governs maximum string voltage, overcurrent protection, and insulation requirements for DC-side PV installations. Solar Stack covers this via the 'Max DC voltage', 'Module insulation rating', and 'Short-circuit current' checks.

DIN EN 62548 (VDE 0126-14)

PV array design requirements — German adoption of IEC 62548

Defines temperature correction factors and mandates production tolerance analysis (+3% Voc, +5% Isc) for safety-critical designs. Solar Stack applies these when the 'Production tolerance' option is enabled.

VDE-AR-N 4105

Generators connected to the low-voltage grid

Defines grid connection requirements for PV systems up to 135 kW, including reactive power and feed-in management. AC-side compatibility is outside Solar Stack's scope, but the 60% feed-in limitation (EEG 2023) is checked when German compliance mode is active.

EEG 2023 §9

German Renewable Energy Sources Act

Systems up to 25 kWp without a Smart Meter must limit grid feed-in to 60% of peak capacity. Solar Stack checks this when German compliance mode is enabled.
