Solar Stack is an independent tool for checking whether a solar panel and an inverter work together safely. This page explains who builds it, where the equipment data comes from, and how the project is funded.
Solar Stack is developed and operated by Roman Pohorilchuk, an independent software developer based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. There is no company and no team behind the site — it is one person's work. The project began during Russia's war against Ukraine, when repeated strikes on the power grid left millions of homes without electricity for hours or days at a time. Solar panels with battery storage became a practical way to keep the lights on. But choosing equipment that actually works together means reading datasheets and running temperature calculations most homeowners have never seen. Solar Stack exists to remove that barrier. It now serves homeowners and installers across Europe in nine languages.
Every specification in the database is taken from the manufacturer's own datasheet: 2,513 solar panels and 1,284 inverters from 105 brands, backed by 981 source PDF documents which you can download from the equipment pages and check yourself. Nothing is estimated or copied from retailer listings. Users can submit equipment, but a submission stays invisible until it has been verified against the manufacturer's datasheet and approved. The calculations follow IEC 62548 for array design, IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 for module testing and safety, and EN 50530 for inverter efficiency. When a datasheet is ambiguous or a value fails a plausibility check, the record is flagged for review rather than guessed.
Solar Stack is self-funded and developed independently. No manufacturer, distributor, or installer pays to be included in the database, to rank higher in results, or to be recommended by the calculator. There are no affiliate links and no sponsored equipment. Which panel or inverter the tools suggest depends only on the numbers in the datasheet.

Solar Stack is a planning aid, not an engineering sign-off. The calculator checks the electrical limits published by the manufacturers, but it cannot see your roof, your cabling, your local grid rules, or the condition of your equipment. Before you buy or install anything, have the design confirmed by a certified electrician or solar installer who carries responsibility for the work in your country. Always verify safety-critical values against the original datasheet — where we have the document, the link is on the equipment page.
