Terms of Service

Last updated: March 20, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Solar Stack. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Solar Stack, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time, and your continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Service Description

Solar Stack is a free online tool for checking the electrical compatibility of solar panels (PV modules) and inverters. The service calculates voltage and current values at temperature extremes and compares them against inverter specifications. The service also provides PDF datasheet extraction to populate equipment databases. To ensure fair usage and service reliability, the following rate limits apply: datasheet extraction (10 requests per minute), feedback submissions (5 per day), equipment submissions (3 per day), and equipment reports (3 per day).

3. Disclaimer of Accuracy

Solar Stack provides calculations for informational and educational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy based on IEC 62548 and NEC 690.7 standards, the results should not be used as the sole basis for installation decisions. Always consult a qualified solar installer or electrical engineer before proceeding with any installation. We are not responsible for errors in uploaded datasheets, incorrect user inputs, or any damages resulting from reliance on calculation results.

4. Limitation of Liability

Solar Stack is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to equipment damage, installation errors, or financial losses. The total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service (which is zero, as it is free).

5. User Content

You retain ownership of any data you upload or enter into Solar Stack, including equipment specifications and calculation parameters. By uploading datasheets, you confirm that you have the right to use them. We may process uploaded PDFs through our extraction pipeline, including sending content to third-party AI services for data extraction. Your feedback submissions (including email, name, category, and message) are stored and forwarded to our administrators for review. Equipment issue reports you submit are associated with your account and reviewed by administrators. When you submit equipment via datasheet upload, the PDF is stored and your submission goes through an admin review and approval process — you will receive email notifications about the outcome. Approved equipment data may be incorporated into the public equipment database available to all users.

6. Intellectual Property

The Solar Stack application, its design, code, methodology, and blog content are protected by intellectual property laws. Equipment specifications in the database are sourced from publicly available manufacturer datasheets. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the application or its content without permission.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend, block, or terminate access to the service for any user who violates these terms, abuses the service (e.g., excessive API calls, automated scraping), or engages in activity that disrupts the service for other users. Accounts may be blocked without advance notice if abuse is detected.

8. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
